A Private Island on Fortune Lake · Crystal Falls, Michigan
An elevated round house in the treetops, reached only by boat. Six sleeping quarters for 18 to 24 guests, a hot tub and glass-walled sauna, and a half mile of open water between you and everyone else.
The Property
Two stories at the high point of the island, wrapped in a 360-degree deck and floor-to-ceiling glass. Every window frames water. Inside: three fireplaces, a full kitchen, a dining table long enough for everyone, and a spiral stair up to the loft.
The 24-foot pontoon, five kayaks, swim raft, and enclosed crew-cab utility vehicle are all included with your stay.
Arrival
Park at the mainland building, which holds a garage, a half bath, and the Birch Point Studio upstairs. The private acre and beach around it are yours as well.
Drive right to the dock, load the pontoon, and cross the half mile to the island you can already see from shore.
Walk up from the island dock, or load the six-seat utility vehicle and drive the trail to the front door. From here on, five acres of your own.

Three ensuite suites, a loft, a bunk house, and a mainland studio — enough room to give every family its own corner.

On the Island

Thirteen aboard. Fish the clear, deep water or motor to the state park beach and play equipment nearby.
Take them from the Kayak Shack, paddle under the bridges, and explore the four-lake chain.
A built-in fire pit and paver patio, with yard games alongside and an unusually dark sky overhead.
Walk down to Beach Point, swim out to the raft, or spend the afternoon on the dock patio.
Three of them, with deep chairs and good light for losing an afternoon to a book.
An enclosed crew-cab SXS seating six, for luggage and the island access trail.
Seasons
From May through November you arrive by pontoon. In deep winter the lake becomes the road and the island is reached by ice road. While the ice forms and thaws, the island closes.
